Kejriwal on Thursday told PTI that his party has zero tolerance for such conduct. He said, "We never try to cover up wrongdoings when evidence comes up against our ministers or party workers, unlike other parties. In a CD received yesterday, Sandeep Kumar was caught doing something wrong, we immediately removed him from the Cabinet." He added that Kumar had "betrayed" the AAP movement.
Kejriwal on Thursday said, "In a CD received yesterday, Sandeep Kumar was caught doing something wrong, we immediately removed him from the Cabinet."
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took the decision after receiving a CD with "objectionable" content in which Kumar is reportedly seen in a compromising position with two women. According to ABP News, the CD contained both photographs and videos of Kumar. ABP News said it received the CD along with an anonymous complaint letter.
Kumar said the video was fabricated. He added, “I am not in that video. An investigation must be launched into it. Even ABP says they can’t vouch for the authenticity of the tape."
According to The Indian Express, Kumar is the third minister who has been removed by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal since his party formed the government in Delhi last year. Before Kumar, Environment Minister Asim Ahmed Khan was removed from the Cabinet in October 2015 following corruption allegations and in June last year, then Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar put in his papers after he was arrested on the charge of possessing fake degrees.
Meanwhile, members of Bharatiya Janata Party staged a protest outside Kejriwal's residence. Party spokesperson Nalin Kohli said, "Look at for what their ministers have been sacked – one with a forged degree, another one in a corruption case and now somebody in a sex scandal. Kejriwal is only interested in politics of allegations, excuses and blame game."
