At least seven persons, including four children, died in rain-related incidents in Hyderabad on Wednesday, NDTV reported. Delhi and Gurugram were also hit by heavy showers that have caused water-logging and traffic jams in the National Capital Region in the last two days. Hyderabad officials said two children and their parents in Ramanthapur area died after their hut collapsed while they were sleeping, and three members of another family died when the roof of their house in Bholakpur caved in.

Hyderabad meteorology officials measured up to 95.75 mm of rainfall in two hours, while the meteorological department in Gurugram predicted a thunderstorm with rain on Wednesday. In the capital, traffic helpline officials told PTI that they were swamped with calls about traffic jams and cases of water-logging across the city. An official said, “Reports of heavy traffic congestion and vehicles being stuck on roads are coming from different parts of the city since morning. We have till now received more than 100 calls of traffic jams and water-logging."

According to a report by The Times of India, officials said more than 12 flights were delayed in Delhi and that some were diverted to Jaipur. Officials have requested citizens to avoid travelling by road as far as possible.
