Six men on motorcycles on Monday stole Rs 30,000 in cash and 10 kg of gold from a company that gives out gold loans in Jalandhar, Punjab. Police said the loot from Manappuram Finance Company's Rama Mandi branch was worth Rs 3 crore in the international market. No arrest has been made in the case so far, but police are examining CCTV footage to get a clearer picture of the robbers, PTI reported.
One of the perpetrators had posed as a customer and asked the security guard to open the main door. The guard was then held at gunpoint while the other five barged in and demanded the key to the locker room. Police have released sketches of four of them.
According to Assistant Branch Manager Naresh Kumar, the robbers filled two black bags with ornaments and the money from the locker and pushed him and two others into the washroom. "They also took away our mobile phones," he added. Police believe the robbery was orchestrated by an insider and are interrogating employees, Hindustan Times reported.
