Officials said the National Investigation Agency is working on a detailed report about the Pathankot terror attack, based on information provided by the United States, The Indian Express reported on Monday. The agency will send its report, with data acquired under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty, to the Ministry of Home Affairs which in turn will send it to Pakistan.
Officials said the agency team, including one deputy inspector general-level officer and two officers at the level of superintendent of police, are in Srinagar to investigate the terror funding angle.
A group of militants attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station on January 2 this year and six Indian security personnel were killed in the conflict that lasted 17 hours. India plans to provide new evidence that incriminates Pakistan in the attack even as Islamabad continues to deny having any role in the incident. ANI reported that New Delhi has sought Islamabad's permission to send an Indian team to Pakistan for evidence collection.
A report by Financial Express indicates that the information provided traced the IP addresses of Jaish-e-Mohammed masterminds to Pakistan, and that the Facebook groups accessed by friends of the terror outfit handler had photos of the deceased terrorists Nasir Hussain, Hafiz Abu Bakar, Umar Farooq and Abdul Qayum.
