Sachin Tendulkar, Goodwill Ambassador of the Indian team at the Rio Olympics, felicitated Olympic silver medallist shuttler PV Sindhu, her coach Pullela Gopichand, bronze medal winner wrestler Sakshi Malik and gymnast Dipa Karmakar with BMW cars in Hyderabad on Sunday, reported PTI. While Hyderabad District Badminton Association President Chamundeshwarnath gifted the luxury cars, Tendulkar handed over the keys.
The former cricketer lauded them for their achievements and said, "I am proud to stand beside these sportspersons. They have brought laurels to the country." He also clicked selfies with the four. He made a special mention of Dipa’s performance, reported Hindustan Times. Tendulkar said the 23-year-old gymnast “won the hearts of the people of the country with her stupendous show.”
According to Hindustan Times, Sindhu got a red BMW 320d while Sakshi received a deep-blue new X1. Dipa and Gopichand got white BMW X1 and 320d, respectively. Sindhu said, "I was promised by Sachin sir earlier that if I get a medal at the Olympics, he will gift me a BMW car. He kept his promised today, thank you, sir."
