Indian Super League side FC Pune City yet again pulled off a major coup by signing up former Chelsea and Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen as their marquee player. Gudjohnsen played for Chelsea for six years, winning the English Premier League twice. The striker then moved to Barcelona, where he spent four years, and was a part of the historic Champions League treble winning team from 2008-09. The 37-year-old was also a part of the Iceland team that reached the quarter-finals of the recently concluded Euro 2016, where he played a bit-part role.
Gudjohnsen is the latest eye-capturing signing made by Pune after Didier Zokora and another former Blues striker, Adrian Mutu, last season. Pune got off to a blazing start in ISL 2015, but despite having a star-studded side, which included Mutu, Tuncay Sanli, Zokoka, and defender Roger Johnson, they finished second from the bottom. The team has gone through a major overhaul, scalping Bruno Arias, Andre Bikey and Japanese-born Indian striker, Arata Izumi.
