The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has raised objections against the dubbing of upcoming film M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story in Marathi. The film wing of Raj Thackeray’s party, Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena, reportedly wrote to Fox Entertainment on Saturday against releasing the Marathi version. It said the Marathi-dubbed version of the film creates competition for vernacular films.
MNS Chitrapat Karmachari Sena president Ameya Khopkar told The Indian Express that they have no issues with the Hindi version and added, “If a Maharashtrian wants to see the film, he can watch it in Hindi. If they do not take back this dubbed version we will protest in a democratic way.”
Director Neeraj Pandey and others had decided to dub the Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer biopic in Marathi because of immense popularity MS Dhoni enjoys in the western state. According to Deccan Chronicle, the film, which will be out on September 30, will also be released in Tamil and Telugu.
