On Sunday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was caught on camera being carried by two policemen on his visit to flood-hit areas in the state.
The pictures of Chouhan being carried by security officials in Amanganj Tehsil of Panna district soon went viral on social media.
In the incriminating shot, Chouhan is being carried by a policeman and a Home Guard officer while crossing a nullah with ankle-deep water in Kamtana village near Amanganj town of Panna district.
In another photograph, he was seen walking barefoot through mud but with an aide carrying his white sneakers in his hands.
The official explanation for Chouhan being carried by security officers was that the collector and the local police chief decided that they could not risk the chief minister getting hurt or being bitten by snakes in the stagnant water.
Chouhan was in the district to meet with local residents whose houses had been devastated by floods due to several days of continuous downpour in the Vindhya region of Madhya Pradesh. His visit was meant to provide an opportunity to interact with the flood-hit families in an attempt to ascertain their needs.
Unfortunately for Chouhan, social media did not take too kindly to his method of wading through troubled waters. Here's a selection.
