The Indian Army on Sunday foiled an infiltration bid by militants along the Line of Control in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, reported The Indian Express. Officials said that three militants were killed during the operation in the Tangdhar sector to stop the attempted infiltration.
An official said the militants killed in the gun battle were involved in a separate attack on a Border Security Force post in the sector on Friday. Three soldiers were injured during that attack. “Three weapons and other war-like stores have been recovered from the scene of the gun battle,” the official said, adding that the army was conducting a combing operation in the area as well.
The infiltration bid comes even as the curfew in the Kashmir Valley enters its 44th day. The curfew and other restrictions were imposed following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani on July 8. Mobile phone services were partially restored in the region on Saturday.
