Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik defeated Moldova's Mariana Esanu by technical points in the pre-quarters of the women's freestyle 58 kg event. The two wrestlers were tied 5-5.
Esanu went into the first period with a 4-0 lead, but Malik fought back brilliantly to get a point on board and then went ahead 5-3 through a single move. Esanu made it even, but Malik was declared the winner.
Malik will fight in the quarter-final bout against Valeria Koblova of Russia later on Wednesday.
