Setalvad, Anand and NGOs Sabrang Trust and Citizens for Justice and Peace had challenged the Gujarat High Court's verdict rejecting their pleas for unfreezing their personal bank accounts. Setalvad and others alleged that their accounts were frozen illegally.
The Ahmedabad Police had frozen their accounts after Setalvad and others were accused of embezzling Rs 1.51 crore that was collected to convert Gulberg Society into a riots museum. Gulberg Society is where 69 people were killed during the post-Godhra riots in 2002.
