Karmakar became the first gymnast to represent the country in the Olympics. Officials said the 23-year-old's coach, Bisweshwar Nandi, will also be recommended for the Dhronacharya Award, the highest honour for coaches, NDTV reported.
The final decision is expected to be made on Thursday, August 18. The awards will be handed out on National Sports Day, which falls on August 29.
