Indian discus thrower Seema Punia failed to qualify for the final as she could only muster a best throw of 57.58 metre on her first attempt, during the qualification stage of the event on Monday.
Punia's second attempt was adjudged a foul throw while her third attempt resulted in a throw of 56.78 metre.
The 33-year old Indian finished 20th out of a field of 34, and she was way below her personal best of 62.62 metre. Yaime Perez of Cuba topped the qualification round with a mark of 65.38 metre.
