Srabani Nanda finished sixth at the end of the women's 200 metre qualification event, clocking a time of 23.58 seconds to bow out of the race for the semi-finals. The Odisha athlete, who competed from Heat 5, finished with an overall ranking of 55 in a total field of 72 participants.
Nanda had qualified for the Rio Olympics after recording a career best 23.07 seconds in June. The top two from each heat qualified for the semi-finals. Ivory Coast's Marie-Josee Ta Lou finished on top with a time of 22.31 seconds, followed by United States' Deajah Stevens and Toriw Bowie with times of 22.45 seconds and 22.47 seconds, respectively.
