PV Sindhu fought back from a game down to win 19-21 21-15 21-17 to progress to the next round against Canada's Michelle Li in her second group game in the badminton women's singles event.
In the first game, both players were ruthless and the game went down to the wire with the Canadian bagging the game 21-19. In the second game, Sindhu got the better of Li and won the second 21-15. However, the third and final game was bound to be a cracker with both refusing to budge. However, Sindhu proved her mettle by winning the game and match 21-17 to progress to the round of 16.
Making her Olympic debut, Sindhu won her first match against Hungary’s Laura Sarosi 21-8 21-9 on Thursday.
