On Saturday, August 13, 2016, former England striker and the host of BBC Sport's Match of the Day (MOTD) programme since 1999, Gary Lineker, went with two upfront in the TV studio. And we're not even sure we're talking football here.

This is how Lineker found himself presenting the Premier League wrap programme on a cold, rainy night in Leicester.

The former Leicester man, also a lifelong fan of the club, had tweeted this on December 14, 2015 as Leicester sat top of the table, with a two-point cushion between themselves and Arsenal.

Lineker, scorer of 48 goals for England, had put one through his own net this time as Leicester romped to the title by 10 points.

As the start of the new season approached closer, there was one question on everyone's mind.

The curiosity spread to Leicester's dugout as even the gaffer wanted to know what Lineker would dig out of his wardrobe. Would he? Wouldn't he? This was some edge-of-the-pants show-and-tell by the 55-year old presenter.

Soon, social media found Lineker warming up to the idea that he was going to be presenting the show and more.

Support for this out-of-the-boxer idea flowed in from all quarters.

Lineker even found himself issuing a clarification to those who had their "knickers in a twist" about the whole episode.

At the end of the day, the ex-Leicester striker put it best.
