The Pakistan Army opened fire at Indian security personnel along the Line of Control in the border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday morning, reported ANI. According to reports, India also retaliated.
Defence ministry spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta told The Indian Express that the Pakistani troops resorted to small arms fire. However, no casualties have been reported. Firing is still underway and more details are awaited.
The ceasefire violation took place less than 12 hours after a grenade blast injured more than 10 people, including pilgrims of Baba Budha Amarnath Yatra, in the district. According to Times of India, two of the injured are in critical condition. Two people have been detained while the third suspect is said to be on the run, reported NDTV. The duo have been identified as Ghulam Abbas and Liaqat Ali, both residents of Ajote.
