Vikas Krishnan entered the quarter-finals of the men's middleweight (75 kg) event after posting a resounding 3-0 win over Turkey's Onder Sipal in the preliminaries on Friday.
The 24-year-old remained steady on his feet and fought off Sipal's aggressiveness to secure a comfortable victory. Sipal received a cut above his right eye and tried to take the attacking route but Krishnan's defence proved immaculate. He won all three rounds to post a place in the quarter-finals where he will face Uzbekistan's Bektemir Melikuziev on Tuesday.
