The Indian men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy bowed out of their event at the group stage after losing their second group stage match 13-21 15-21 against the Chinese pair of Chai Biao and Hong Wei.
Apart from an early surge at the start where they led the Chinese pair 6-5, Attri and Sumeeth Reddy were never in contention for the win. Chai and Hong, ranked fifth in the world, soon went ahead and took the first set 21-13 in just 15 minutes.
Attri and Reddy kept fighting in the second set, but the Chinese duo were clinical and strolled to a victory in the second set as well.
The Indian pair are currently bottom of their group, having lost their first match on Thursday to the Indonesian pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan. Their last game is against the Japanese pair of Hiroyuki Endo and Kenichi Hayakawa on Sunday. The top two pairs from each group qualify for the quarters.
