Taxi and autorickshaw unions in Mumbai will go on an indefinite strike from August 29 to protest against app-based services such as Ola and Uber. At least 1.5 lakh taxis and autos will stay off the roads till the state government acts to rein in Ola and Uber operators, union leaders said.
The announcement came after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis postponed a meeting with the the leaders and other stakeholders. The chief minister called off the meeting on Monday at the last minute and did not announce an alternative date, reported the Times of India.
