The Indian women’s hockey team were outclassed 3-0 by the United States in their clash on Friday – their third defeat in four games. In a one-sided match, Kathleen Bam scored two goals for USA and Melissa Gonzalez, one. The Americans lead Group B with 12 points, having won all four matches. For India, Rani Rampal's first quarter goal was disallowed, being ruled dangerous play.
India face Argentina next on Saturday. If they win, and if Australia beat or draw with Japan, India will actually sneak into the quarter-final with 4 points, ahead of Argentina and Japan.
