India lost 2-1 to against the Netherlands in a Pool B hockey match at Rio on Thursday. Indian skipper PR Sreejesh pulled off several terrific saves through the match but Mink van der Weerden's drag-flick, five minutes before the match ended, sealed the Netherlands' win. All goals in the game came from penalty corners.
Roger Hofman scored for the Dutch early on in the game while VR Raghunath's goal came soon after. Van der Weerden struck the winning goal six minutes from time. Netherlands held on to win 2-1 after seeing out five penalty corners in the final seconds of the game.
The drama unfolded in the third quarter and Hofman scored from a rebound after Sreejesh had pulled off an excellent save. The lead only lasted for five minutes as Raghunath's shot found the net from a deflection.
