The Indian doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy lost 18-21 13-21 in their opening match in the men's doubles event against the World No 2 pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan from Indonesia.
However, ranked 16th in the world, the Indian duo lost the match in straight sets in a disastrous start to their campaign. The pair put up a tough fight in the first set and lost 18-21. But, in the second set, the Indonesians were far more clinical and won 21-13.
Attri and Reddy will need to pick up the pieces and put up a much tougher challenge in their next game on Friday against China on Friday.
