Alejandra Valencia from Mexico knocked Bombayla Devi Laishram out of the women's individual archery event, to bring to an end Indian representation in the women's draw.
Devi, ranked 69th in the world, started with a 7 and could not catch up to Valencia who started in searing fashion. Valencia won the first set 26-28.
The Indian caught up in the second set and drew level as the Mexican had a wayward series of shots and could only clock a 23, compared to Laishram's 26.
Valencia shot a clutch arrow in the third set to take it 28-27. Bombayla started with a six in the fourth set and could never recover to lose 25-23.
With Devi's exit, Indian representation in the women's archery event ends after Deepika Kumari also lost her round of 16 clash earlier in the day. Laxmirani Majhi had been knocked out in her round of 64 clash on Monday. In the men's draw, Atanu Das is still in contention and will play in the round of 16 on Friday.
