Indian archer Atanu Das beat Cuba’s Adrian Perez 6-4 in five sets to progress to the round of 16 in the men's individual archery event at the Rio Olympics on Tuesday. The Indian won the first two sets 28-26 and 29-26, but a dip in form saw him lose the next two 26-27 and 27-28. In the final set, however, the Bengal lad upped his game and scored a match-winning 29 with two 10s and a nine. He won the match 6-4. Earlier, Das beat Nepal’s Jitbahadur Muktan in straight sets to progress to the round of 32. This included a perfect set in which the Indian hit three 10s.
Das's next opponent is Korea’s Lee Seung-yun and the Kolkata resident will face him on August 12 at 5:43 pm IST.
