The Justice Lodha Committee on Tuesday gave the Board of Control for Cricket in India time till October 15 to comply with the 15 constitutional reforms it had recommended earlier. The panel made the decision following a meeting with BCCI Secretary Ajay Shirke, PTI reported. The cricketing body will also submit a first compliance report to the committee by August 25.
BCCI President Anurag Thakur was not present at the meeting as he took a leave of absence. The Indian cricketing authority had earlier indicated that they will a file a review petition against the Supreme Court ruling in July, which directed them to implement the Lodha committee's recommendations within six months.
Former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju, who was recently appointed the head of a BCCI legal panel, had criticised the top court's order as "illegal and unconstitutional".
