Home Affairs Ministry officials reportedly ruled out the possibility of a suicide behind the death of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul, according to ANI. Officials said no suicide note was found, and claimed he could have been suffering from depression.

Pul was found dead on Tuesday at the official chief minister's home, which he had yet to move out of. Congress leader Pema Khandu had recetly taken oath as the state's new chief minister. Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh has spoken with Khandu regarding Pul's death, the news agency reported.

Supporters of the former chief minister, who took over the post for four months after a political rebellion in the Congress-led state Assembly in December, have surrounded the house. The situation in Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar is currently tense, as his supporters have taken to the streets and also burned a coffin.
