Indian Sajan Prakash and Shivani Kataria failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the men's 200 metre butterfly and women's 200 metre freestyle events respectively at the Olympics Aquatics Stadium on Monday.
The 18-year-old Kataria clocked a time of 2.09.30 and finished with a rank of 41 out of 43 participants in the event while Prakash clocked 1:59.37 in Heat 1 finishing fourth in his heat. However, the effort wasn’t enough to see him through as he finished with an overall ranking of 28 out of 29 participants.
The top 16 swimmers in both the events qualified for the semi-finals.
