Around 25 blackbucks were found dead in Mahbubnagar, Telangana, after they ate pesticide, PTI reported. However, it was unclear whether the animals consumed the pesticide directly or when they ate crops laced with them. District police chief Rema Rajeswari told NDTV that their bodies were sent for postmortems to the local veterinary hospital, and tissue samples were sent for forensic examinations.
Mahabubnagar District Divisional Forest Officer C Ganga Reddy told PTI that a case was filed against two farmers who had illegally sowed their crop on the government land where the animals had grazed. The land belonged to the revenue department, Reddy said.
