Indian rower Dattu Bhokanal started his Olympic campaign on a bright note by finishing third in the men's singles sculls with a time of 7:21.67 seconds. In the process, Bhokanal has qualified for the quarter-finals. Bhokanal finished behind table topper Angel Rodriguez Fournier from Cuba and second-placed Carlos Juan Cabrera from Mexico.
Bhokanal got India off to a rousing start in the rowing men’s single sculls event. After a drop in the middle, he picked up the pace to finish third.
The 25-year-old rower from the Indian Army qualified for the global event in April.
