Shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ayonika Paul failed to qualify for the finals of the 10 metre air rifle event after finishing 34th and 43rd in the qualification round at the Olympic Shooting Centre on Satuday. The top eight ranked players qualify for the finals.
The 23-year-old Chandela got off to a good start, scoring 104.2 in the first series but could not attain those heights after that, scoring 102.7 in the second, a marginally better 103.3 in the third and a poor 101.4 at the end, leaving with her finishing 34th.
Twenty-three-year old Paul began with 102.0 in the first and raised hopes with 104.5 in the second but soon tumbled down the rankings with 102.5 in the third and a terrible 98.0 at the end.
