At least 13 people were killed and six others injured after a fire broke out during a birthday celebration at a bar in France's Rouen city. According to reports, the blaze started in the basement of Cuba Libra bar after the flames from the candles on the birthday cake spread to the ceiling. The victims were all between 18 and 25 years of age.
Nearly 50 firefighters were called in around 12.50 am (local time). It took them 30 minutes to douse the flames, The Guardian reported. Mayor of Rouen Yvon Robert, who went to the spot, called the blaze "the greatest catastrophe", and Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve told BBC that a judicial inquiry into the incident was underway.
