FILM Animal Human Nature Continuum at Osianama at Liberty
Arts organisation Osians is screening a series of movies that touch upon the relationship between man and nature. Among the films on this weekend’s schedule are Kireet Kumar and N Padmakumar’s documentary Saeed Mirza: The Leftist Sufi about Hindi film director Saeed Mirza whose 1980 movie Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyoon Aata Hai will also be shown (Friday at 6.30pm and 8 pm). Over Saturday and Sunday, eight films by German auteur Werner Herzog will be screened including 1972’s Aguirre, the Wrath of God (Saturday at 8.30 pm), 1971’s Fata Morgana (Sunday at 1 pm) and 1976’s Heart of Glass (Sunday at 6 pm). FILM Lola at Whistling Woods Andheri Base
Alliance Francaise will screen Jacques Demy’s 1961 film Lola, in which Roland, a drifter, is filled with fresh purpose after meeting Lola, a cabaret dancer he knew as a teenager. THEATRE Pratibimb Natya Utsav at the NCPA Experimental and Godrej Dance Theatre
The seventh edition of the National Centre for the Performing Arts’ annual Marathi theatre festival will feature eight plays over five days. Don’t Worry Be Happy (Friday at 7 pm at the Experimental Theatre), written by Mihir Rajda and directed by Adwait Dadarkar, is about a career-driven couple figuring out how to deal with the woman’s decision to have a child after being diagnosed with a condition that threatens her fertility. Tarkachya Khunteevaroon Nisatlele Rahasya (Saturday at noon at the Experimental Theatre), written by Jayant Pawar and directed by Atul Pethe, is about a boy caught up in finishing a mystery story left incomplete by his uncle. Khidki (Sunday at 4 pm at the Godrej Dance Theatre), written and directed by Vipul Mahagaonkar, is based on Dario Fo’s Accidental Death of an Anarchist.
