Last year, bestselling author Anuja Chauhan had spurned her longtime publisher HarperCollins for Westland Publishers, who had promised her “more numbers, more publicity, more everything,” as Scroll.in reported at the time. But after just one book with Westland, Chauhan has now gone back to HarperCollins for her fifth novel, Baz, which will be published in April 2017.
Chauhan had published her first three books – The Zoya Factor (2008), Battle For Bittora (2010) and Those Pricey Thakur Girls (2013) – with publisher VK Karthika at HarperCollins, before going to Westland for The House That BJ Built (2015). At the time, it looked like Westland was going to keep Chauhan, so it is huge news that HarperCollins has managed to get her back.
Although only insiders will know what went wrong with Westland, Chauhan is clearly happy to be back with her longtime publishers. “I am so excited to be publishing with the publishing house that had faith in me from the very beginning and with whom I share a very special and personal relationship,” she said.
