Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an encounter with himself earlier this week. The famous Madame Tussauds museum organised a private viewing for him in New Delhi of the wax statute of himself that has just gone on display at its galleries in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

The politician seemed quite pleased with the musuem's efforts. "What can I say?" the prime minister declared. "As far as art is concerned, the Madame Tussauds team is exceptional at what they do. What Lord Brahma does normally is what the artists there are doing. Today, I had an opportunity as the prime servant of my people to meet my wax figure."

The figure inspected by Modi in New Delhi will soon be transferred to the museum's London branch, where it will be hobnobbing with the likes of US President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

But of course, the photos of Modi peering at his own likeness elicted many amused comments online.
