Delhi: Child has severe injuries, say doctors
A four-year-old girl was raped in New Delhi on Friday night, sustaining extensive physical, doctors said. She will six months of surgeries to recover from her injuries. According to reports, the girl said that some men lured the girl into a jungle near northwest Delhi’s Keshavpuram area and raped her. They fled when they saw someone approaching. The police said that an attempt to murder charge will be added to the rape case.

A day before the assembly elections began in the state, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asked excise minister Awadesh Kushwaha to step down after two videos appeared on YouTube showing him accepting Rs 4 lakh from individuals posing as businessmen from Mumbai. Kushwaha submitted his resignation on Sunday, but denied the allegations. He said he would file a defamation suit against those who conducted the sting operation. The Janata Dal (United) withdrew his candidature from the polls, saying that it has a zero tolerance policy on corruption.

Claiming that he was facing hostility from the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he would get the vigilance department to trap corrupt officials in the state, and that it was then up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to send them to jail. In an interview to the Times of India, Kejriwal claimed that his fight against corruption had been made harder as Modi had taken over the Anti-Corruption Branch, leaving him with little control. The Aam Aadmi Party chief also said his immediate move to sack his food minister Asim Ahmed Khan over graft charges on Friday underlined his intent to keep to his word on corruption.

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Sunday that Rashtriya Janata Dal’s Lalu Prasad had been deceived into forming an alliance with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal (United). Yadav expressed surprise at the fact that Prasad had agreed to team up with Kumar even after the chief minister pursued the fodder scam case against him, in which the RJD chief was convicted for five years.
Punjab: Badal is Nelson Mandela of India, says Modi
Primer Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as the "Nelson Mandela of India", claiming that he had been put in jail for nearly two decades solely for political reasons. “What was the crime of people like Badal sahab? Only that he had political views different from those in power," said Modi, during a speech commemorating the 113th birth anniversary of socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan in New Delhi. The comparison with Mandela was severely criticised on Twitter.
