Madhya Pradesh: State withdraws transfers
The transfers of Dr Anand Rai, one of the main whistleblowers in the Vyapam cash-for-jobs scam, and his wife Gauri, by the health department have been cancelled, the Madhya Pradesh government on Friday assured the state high court. The couple will be reinstated to their original postings in Indore in a week, the government said in an affidavit. They will also be paid salary due for last three months, it said.

Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested the chief of radical women’s outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Asiya Andrabi, for unfurling Pakistani flags and singing the Pakistani anthem on two occasions this year. She also allegedly slaughtered a cow despite a court ban, and faces a number of other cases in the Valley.
Bihar: RJD MLA on dharna over seat allocations
Amid media reports that he may be denied a ticket for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA Dinesh Kumar Singh on Friday staged a dharna in front of party office here and threatened to commit suicide. Singh, MLA from Jagdishpur in Bhojpur district, urged RJD President Lalu Prasad to clarify if the reports doing rounds were true. He said if he failed to get a satisfactory answer, he would start fast unto death tomorrow and commit suicide in front of the party office on Sunday.
Mizoram: State may act against staff opposing liquor sale
The Mizoram government has warned that it will take action against employees participating in an agitation launched by the church and some NGOs against the opening of wine shops in district headquarters across the state. While the state government partially lifted the prohibition in February this year, allowing Mizos to buy six bottles of liquor a month, the churches had been opposing the government's decision.
Delhi: Greenpeace probe put off
With the Madras High Court staying the order cancelling Greenpeace India’s Foreign Contributions Regulation Act licence, the home ministry has put off its proposal to order a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into alleged financial irregularities committed by the NGO. The Centre was debating whether it should order a full-scale investigation into the NGO's decision to transfer foreign contributions worth Rs 1.92 crore and Rs 1.96 crore to non-FCRA accounts and lock away foreign funds in fixed deposits. There was also a discussion on which Central agency should be asked to conduct the investigation.
