Kashmir: Bodies bore bullet and torture marks, say residents
The bodies of three young men with bullet injuries were found dumped in an apple orchard in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday morning. This lead to protests in the area, resulting in clashes between protestors and the security forces in Sopore and Baramulla towns. Protestors blocked the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway at Pattan and Kreeri. The bodies of the three youths, aged between 17 and 21, were found in an orchard in Shuru village of Pattan tehsil. Residents said the bodies bore bullet and torture marks.
Bihar: 7 Killed in crane collapses
Seven people died and many are feared to be trapped after a crane collapsed at the site at which the Arrah-Chhapra bridge is being constructed in Bihar. The bridge is being built across the Ganga, connecting Arrah and Chhapra districts. It will would provide a roadway link between northern and southern Bihar.

Prabhu alias Sevarkodian said that the company had murdered mentally unsound people several times in the past, but his allegation is now being taken seriously after Legal Commissioner U Sagayam IAS investigating illegal mining and quarrying exhumed skeletal remains from the exact spot that Sevarkodian had pointed out. The owner, PR Palanisamy, has been named in a police case as the main suspect in two deaths that took place over 10 years ago.
Maharashtra: Shiv Sena demands Bharat Ratna for Savarkar
The Shiv Sena on Monday demanded that Veer Savarkar be given Bharat Ratna, contending that the icon of freedom struggle had been deliberately neglected by previous governments due to his staunch Hindutva views. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party leader Sanjay Raut said it was high time the National Democratic Alliance Government honoured Savarkar with the highest civilian award to rectify the mistakes of earlier governments.

An arrest warrant was issued against former Law Minister of Delhi, Somnath Bharti on Monday. He has been accused by his estranged wife Lipika Mitra of domestic violence and attempt to murder. Since the case was filed late last week, Bharti has ignored multiple requests by the police to make himself available for interrogation. The police says that the former minister did not keep a Friday appointment, and has gone missing since then. On Thursday, Bharti tweeted, "This too shall pass."
