Maharashtra: Maria to stay on Sheena Bora case
The Maharashtra government on Tuesday promoted Rakesh Maria out of the Mumbai police commissioner’s post, but announced that he would continue to supervise the high-profile Sheena Bora murder probe. Maria changed places with Ahmed Javed as director general of police in the home guards division with immediate effect.

Jammu and Kashmir: 'Mufti sabotaged NSA-level talks'
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of sabotaging National Security Advisor-level talks between India and Pakistan. He said Sayeed prevented the Hurriyat leaders from meeting the Pakistan High Commissioner by arresting them. “Now he says that NSA talks should have been held,”  Abdullah said. "Jenab, if anyone sabotaged those talks, it is you when you arrested these leaders."

Bihar: MJ Akbar criticises Nitish
BJP member Akbar hit out at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday for mocking the Centre's Rs. 1.25 lakh crore central package for his state. He asked Kumar to explain why the earlier schemes of the United Progressive Alliance government had not been implemented. "Instead of questioning Modi, Kumar should explain as to why old package was allowed to stay old and not implemented," Akbar said.

Delhi: AAP leaders accused of violating poll code
In a violation of Lyngdoh Committee rules, Aam Aadmi Party leaders Bhagwant Mann and Raghav Chadda on Tuesday visited Delhi University colleges to campaign for party student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti in run-up to the Delhi University Student Union polls. While the university said that the norms for the elections have been violated, CYSS leaders claimed the leaders had visited the North Campus to appeal for honest politics.

Uttar Pradesh: Fire in waqf board office
Days after fire broke out in the Sunni Waqf Board office, Uttar Pradesh minority welfare and waqf minister Azam Khan said on Tuesday that no documents related to the Ayodhya mosque demolition had been destroyed in the blaze. "All the original records are in the custody of the court," he said "There are only photocopies kept in the Waqf office."
