Himachal Pradesh:  Bus plunges 200 meters
Eighteen people were killed and 12 injured on Tuesday when a bus fell 200 meters deep into a gorge at Nathpa on Hindustan Tibet National highway. Fifteen people died on the spot while three succumbed to their injuries on way to hospital and twelve others were injured, SP, Kinnaur, Rahul Nath said. The condition of four injured persons was stated to be serious and they have been rushed to Civil Hospital Rampur. The private bus was on its way to Rampur from Rekong Peo when the tragedy struck. The deceased included two policemen while the identity of the others was being identified.

Manipur: Situation tense and violent
The Centre has described the situation in Manipur as tense as eight people were killed and 31 others injured on Tuesday following large-scale arson and violence. The central government said it will send additional paramilitary forces to the region in response to a request from the state government. The violence between people of the hills and the plains erupted after the legislature on Monday passed three bills, effectively putting in place an Inner Line Permit System that places restrictions on outsiders entering the state.

Pune: One killed, three injured in blast
At least one person was killed and two others injured in a blast that took at a scrap dealers shop in Pune on Tuesday. "One of the workers at the shop died because of the blast and two more are injured," said an official of Kondhwa police station. On the same day, another blast took place at Narayangaon, around 77 kilometres from Pune.

Jammu and Kashmir: NIA sets up four camp offices
National Investigation Agency set up camp offices at four places in Jammu and Kashmir and wants to establish a permanent base for more effective monitoring of cases in the region. The proposed office will also be able to cover neighbouring Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, which witnessed a terror incident at Gurdaspur in the last week of July that left eight people dead, they said.

Tamil Nadu: Sivaji Ganesan's statue to be shifted
Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday informed the Madras High Court that the statue of Sivaji Ganesan in Chennai would be shifted to the proposed memorial. The court was hearing a contempt petition filed by P Nagarajan in connection with implementation of the January 23 court order in connection with the writ over removing the statue. The department in its counter affidavit stated that the chief minister had announced in the Assembly that a memorial would be built on land allotted to the South Indian Film Artiste Association.
