In the madness of the assembly election results, Arvind Kejriwal, the chief ministerial candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party, did what no other politician of his stature would usually do: submit himself to good-natured ribbing on a comedy show.
Muffler Man appeared in video posted on Monday by The Viral Fever comedy group, gamely subjecting himself to barbs as he shared stage with an actor who impersonated him and pretended to be a representative of BAAP, or the Bollywood Aam Aadmi Party. The show is called Barely Speaking with Arnub, with a host who, like his near-namesake on Times Now, harangues and mocks his guests.
While the host needled him about everything from his fashion statement to a cough that won’t go, Kejriwal joined in with jokes about his own “blank bank statement”. But even through the flurry of jokes, Kejriwal didn’t let an opportunity go to push his party’s agenda.
