The Shiv Sena on Wednesday demanded that the words "secular" and "socialist" be permanently deleted from the preamble to the Constitution. The demand came in the wake of a controversial Republic Day advertisement by the Information & Broadcasting Ministry showing a picture of the Constitution without those words, as it was before the 42nd amendment. Sena MP Sanjay Raut elaborated that if Pakistan had been created for Muslims, then India was a Hindu country. He added that India was not a secular nation, whether or not those words were included in the preamble.

Andhra Pradesh: Water dispute with Telengana gets stickier
The water-sharing dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telengana was further compounded on Wednesday when Tamil Nadu put forth its demand for 15 TMC of water for Chennai, which is mandated by the Telugu Ganga Agreement between Maharashtra, Karnataka and formerly-undivided Andhra. The problematic part is that the water for Chennai is drawn from the Srisailam reservoir, which is administered under the agreement by Andhra Pradesh but is now in Telengana. Tamil Nadu is now pressing Andhra Pradesh to honour its agreement.
