External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's suggestion that the Bhagwad Gita should be a declared as the National Book has inspired hilarity all around.



The foreign minister was speaking at an event on the New Delhi's Red Front grounds to mark the 5,151st anniversary of the Gita, organised by organized by an RSS-affiliate. "I am happy to say that the prime minister has already given it the honour of a Rashtriya Granth when he handed over the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita to America's President Barack Obama," Swaraj said. "Only a formal announcement now remains."

She went on to advise psychiatrists to read it to patients who were suffering from depression.
