Early on Wednesday, Bollywood actor, Salman Khan tweeted that he had taken his broom to the streets to complete the challenge that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set him on October 2 as a part of his Swachh Bharat campaign. Along with this, he nominated all his 8.7 million followers to take up the challenge too – and scores of them tweeted back to accept.
The Prime Minister immediately expressed his appreciation. “The effort by Salman Khan is a significant one that will inspire several people to join Swachh Bharat Mission," he tweeted. Salman Khan completed his challenge by cleaning a part of Karjat, on the outskirts, in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon. He shared a couple of pictures of himself and his team, which comprised fellow Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh. In one, he's an area clean with broom in hand. In another photo, he's painting a house.
In addition to his fans, he nominated eight other people to join: Azim Premji, Chanda Kochhar, Aamir Khan, Rajinikanth, Omar Abdullah, Pradeep Dhoot, Rajat Sharma and Times of India executive Vineet Jain.
Here is what Twitter had to say on Salman Khan doing his bit for the nation.
First, I nominate my fans on Facebook and followers on Twitter. Each one of us can make a difference.
