There's nothing to split hairs about. According to National Sample Survey Organisation data for 2011-’12, South India spends more on barbers and beauticians per month than any other region.
Though the top ten states are mostly from the south – Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka – the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are at the very top. Residents of the islands spend Rs 18.05 spent per month on grooming services.
Sikkim and Assam spend the least on barbers and beauticians, with Manipur at the bottom with only Rs 3.85 per person per month.
