There are only a few occasions when one can wear a crown of wildflowers and fruit in public and not be stared at. The Feast of St John, or São João, in Goa is one of them.

As Catholics pray for a good rain, they also intertwine a fair bit of celebration into the process. Feni, port wine, fruit and jumping into wells form an integral part of that.

We visited three celebrations: one at Siolim, the other two in a village called Aldona.
