FIRs filed against Narendra Modi for violating poll code
Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was booked by the Ahmedabad police on the orders of the Election Commission on Wednesday for making a “political speech” and taking a selfie of his inked finger holding the party’s election symbol, both after voting. Two separate First Information Reports were registered against Modi for violating Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which prohibits public meetings for 48 hours after the conclusion of polling. The EC also asked for separate FIRs to be registered against television channels and other electronic media that broadcast the images of the proceedings and the display of election material.

Digvijaya Singh goes public with relationship with journalist
Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh, 67, acknowledged Wednesday that he was in a relationship with journalist Amrita Rai, 43. The Congress leader's relationship came to light a day earlier when photographs of the couple, along with transcripts of emails they had shared, were sent to newspaper offices in an anonymous envelope. According to Rai, her computer or email account had been hacked. While both Singh and Rai have condemned the intrusion into their private lives, opposition parties have raised questions about the "morality" of the relationship.
Priyanka Gandhi takes jibe at Modi's "yeh dil maange more" remark
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a jibe at Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi for his use of the slogan "yeh dil maange more" at a recent rally in Haryana. Gandhi stated that the BJP leader was always ready to exhort people for more votes, while the Congress cared about making people more "vigilant" and wanted them to "be empowered and realise their potential". Modi had used the slogan, made famous by Kargil war martyr Captain Vikram Batra, while asking voters for 300 seats for the BJP-fronted National Democratic Alliance in the Lok Sabha elections. Modi’s comments were criticised by Capt Batra's parents, as well as by multiple members of the opposition.
