The International Booker Prize, which completed ten years, has announced that Bukhman Philanthropies will be funding the next ten years of the Prize, following its support in 2026. The prize has been subsequently named the Bukhman International Booker Prize. The cash award for the winning title will double in value from £50,000 to £100,000, to be split equally between the author and translator/s. Each shortlisted title will continue to be awarded a prize of £5,000: £2,500 for the author and £2,500 for the translator/s.
Bukhman Philanthropies was established by Daria and Dmitri Bukhman, the co-founders of the mobile gaming company Playrix.
The jury of the 2027 Prize has also been announced. Writer Katie Kitamura chairs the judging panel and is joined by translator and academic Patrick McGuinness; filmmaker and writer Caleb Azumah Nelson; novelist Olga Ravn; and actor and producer Tessa Thompson.
A longlist of 12 or 13 books will be announced on March 17, 2027, and the shortlist on April 15, 2027. The winning book will be announced at a ceremony in May 2027.
