Uttar Pradesh Department of Elementary Education (UP D.El.Ed) has announced the new dates for the UPTET 2019 examination. The exam will now be conducted on January 8th, 2020, according to Times of India. The department had postponed the exam from December 22nd and now the new date has been released.
The UPTET 2019 examination had released the admit card on December 12th; however, the internet was suspended in several parts of state after protests against the CAA and NRC. Thus, several candidates were not able to download the admit card which led to the postponement of the exam.
The TOI reports that Amit Bhardwaj, joint secretary, state higher education department said that holiday has been announced in all degree colleges to deal with the shortage of the centers due to the postponement.
The report stated that the more than 16 lakh candidates have registered to appear for the UPTET 2019 exam of which around 10.5 lakh have registered for the Paper I and around 5.5 lakh for the Paper II.
UPTET 2019 examination consists of two papers. The Paper I was to be conducted on December 22nd from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and Paper II was scheduled to be held from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm. The admit card for the exam was issued on December 12th, 2019.
Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2019 exam is being conducted to certify the eligibility of candidates to teach at schools recognised by UP Board. The Paper I is conducted to certify the eligibility to teach from Class I to Class V and Paper II from Class VI to Class VIII.
