The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the 2018 December UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) exam from December 9th to December 23rd, reports the Indian Express. The NTA will conduct the NET exam twice from this year onward, once in July and once in December.
The NTA has taken over from the CBSE regarding conducting the NET, NEET and JEE (Main) exams. The NET and JEE (Main) will be conducted twice a year, whereas the NEET exam will be conducted just once. The NEET exam was also supposed to be conducted twice, but the HRD Ministry withdrew the decision to conduct it twice today.
The registration for the NET 2018 exam will begin from September 1st and the last date to register is September 30th. The admit card for the NET 2018 exam will be available from November 19th and the result is expected to be declared on January 10th, 2019, adds the Indian Express report.
The HRD Ministry informed that the NET exam pattern will be changed from this year. Candidates have to attempt two papers, paper 1 and paper 2, instead of three papers. Paper 1 will be a 100-mark paper consisting of 50 objective questions testing candidate’s teaching and research aptitude. The duration for the exam will be an hour. Paper 2 will be for 2 hours and will contain 100 objective questions for 200 marks testing candidate’s subject area expertise.
